Samsung has just launched the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 in India at a practical price. The Galaxy Mega goes on for sale @ Rs. 25100 on the other hand galaxy Mega 6.2 will be launched for Rs.31500.

Galaxy Mega Features

The first thing you will notice once you handle these phones is “these phones are gigantic or u can say phablatic”. You guys won’t believe in front of these giant phones even the galaxy s4 looks puny.

Loaded with the latest version of Android 4.2.2 these phones resemble the galaxy s4 with respect of UI looks and feel. The only disappointing thing on the galaxy mega 5.8 is a 5 point multi touch.

Both, the Galaxy Mega 5.8 and the Galaxy Mega 6.3 come with dual core processors, the one on the Galaxy Mega 6.3 is manufactured by Qualcomm, whereas the Galaxy Mega 5.8 having the same chipset found in the Galaxy Grand, made by Broadcom.

The Galaxy Mega phones have 8 MP cameras and front facing 1.9 MP cameras, with the possibility of 1080p video capture at 30fps. The Galaxy Mega 6.3 however will also get the Smart Camera features from the Galaxy S4 along with UI features like Multi Window and Air View.

BlackBerry Messenger to come pre-loaded on rival smartphones.

BlackBerry has already announced that it will be rolling out its BlackBerry messenger app (BBM) to other platforms such as Android and iOS. However, I have no idea when we can expect these smartphones to be available in the market.

As we all know  BBM is a popular instant messaging application that lets BlackBerry users seamlessly exchange texts, audio, videos and pictures with each other.

Rite now, there are plenty of rival applications such as WeChat, Nimbuzz and WhatsApp, mig 33 in the market. All these rival applications are available across platforms. By making BBM available across platforms, BlackBerry is just trying to expand the reach of this application. The company had rolled out an update for BBM in December 2012, in form of BlackBerry Messenger 7. The most notable addition in the BlackBerry Messenger 7 was that it supported voice calls over Wi-Fi just like skype. BlackBerry had launched a brand new operating system, BlackBerry 10 on January 30. The company has already launched two brand new smartphones, Z10 and Q10 running on this platform. The company is also expected to be working on a new flagship smartphone, which is known to be A10 and is likely to be launched in November 2013. Hopefully on my birthday  :P....

Micromax is coming up with a new Canvas series smartphone named as Micromax A120 Canvas Pro HD. Micromax A120 Canvas Pro HD Price is expected to be around Rs 18,000-19,000 and it is  rumored to be launched by June 30th 2013. A120 Canvas Pro HD will be the successor of the recently launched, A116 Canvas HD.

Weak points = The TOUCHWIZ UI of samsung quattro is not the full fledged version of the UI. There are lot of nice features missing on this device starting from the lock screen. the gpu is not good enough for hard core gamers besides camera is a big disappointment.

Suitable for = This device is suitable for those seekers who are looking for a big display smart phone with a simple and intuitive interface, good look and decent sound quality without investing that much money.

·   Quadrant is a CPU & 3D graphics benchmark. The higher the score, the better it is. Here, surprisingly the Xolo X1000 scored the highest whereas the Micromax A116 Canvas HD scored the lowest, despite having the most powerful processor on paper. The Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos landed right in the middle.

·   In NenaMark2, which measures the frames per second performance on the smartphone, Samsung Galaxy Grand emerges as the winner by quite a margin – possibly because of its low-resolution of its display. The Canvas HD comes in second, while the scores of the X1000 are surprisingly low.

·      The AnTuTu Benchmark tests the Memory Performance, CPU Integer Performance, ‘CPU  3D Graphics Performance, SD card reading/writing speed on the smartphone. Once again, with AnTuTu, the higher the score, the better it is- the Canvas HD lands the highest score, with the Galaxy Grand emerging at the bottom. The score of the Xolo X1000, placing in between, is very close to the score that was leaked before the launch of the device and is quite close to the score of the Canvas HD.

·   SmartBench 2012 is a multi-core friendly benchmark application that measures the overall performance of your smartphone. It reports both productivity and gaming indices. Simply put, if you need to run games and heavy duty apps, then SmartBench score should help you decide the device for you. Here there is no surprise that the Canvas HD has come on top and the score of the other smartphones is way behind. The Galaxy Grand comes second and the Xolo X1000 scored the least.
